Associate Pastor
Graham Church is a multi-staff biblical, evangelical church in Perry, MI. We’re looking for an associate pastor with strong gifts in outreach, discipleship, and administration to implement the church’s vision and ministry priorities.
At present, we are a body of around 200 people. Thirty percent of our congregation are children representing a healthy proportion of young families. In addition, we have a significant ministry to teens.
We are a non-denominational church that is winsomely reformed in our theology of salvation and we practice believer’s baptism. Our style of worship and ministry is blended contemporary and rooted in biblical integrity and the rich theology of the gospel. Our mission statement is “to glorify and enjoy God as we make and equip authentic disciples of Jesus.”
Graham Church is located between Perry and Lansing, MI just off I-69. The State Capitol and Michigan State University are both within a 25-minute drive. Woodhull Township, where we’re located, is a bedroom community to Lansing, Flint, and Owosso.

Job Overview
Position Profile:
Supporting pastor to Graham Church, leading in strategic areas of administration, assimilation, Christian education, development of ministry leaders, and community groups. He will work with the lead pastor in the areas of preaching/teaching, care ministry, and discipleship.
Skill Set:
The Associate Pastor will be a ministry generalist able to lead leaders and oversee various elements of the overall ministry of Graham Church. He must be able to disciple individuals, communicate clearly, administrate ministries, organize and develop Christian education in all age groups of Graham Church, be willing to preach/teach, and continue to develop these gifts and participate with the elders in providing pastoral care for the congregation. He must be “above reproach,” humble, teachable, and responsible in his affairs and leadership of the church. He must meet the qualifications of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
He must have a demonstrated competency in theology and administration and be gifted in building personal discipling relationships. He must possess the ability to execute biblical leadership principles and shepherd volunteers in the ministry. He also must be a team player with good interpersonal skills, a self-initiator, able to maintain balance in work and life, have personal integrity, and be a servant leader. And above all, he must have a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ and the advancement of God’s Kingdom through the gospel.
Qualifications:
– Agree with Graham Church’s theological position, core values, and significant distinctives
– Possess a deep love and burden for people and souls
– Be humble and have a teachable spirit in ministry and personal life
– Be aware of his sin struggles and brokenness, and confess those things to the Lord and others
– Maintain consistent rhythms of spiritual disciplines (scripture intake, prayer, etc.)
– Have biblical wisdom and discernment for daily living
– Be strongly committed to serving and praying for the health, maturity, worship, and spiritual vitality of the church, serving as a model for others
– Be personable and relational with a desire for and track record of working well with people and adapting to the needs of ministry to foster the purpose of the church
– Be able to empathize with and provide spiritual care for people who are hurting
– Possess a heart and personality that promotes unity and growth in the body of Christ
– Be able to teach and preach biblically sound, engaging, gospel-centered messages
– Have earned a minimum of a college bachelor’s degree with a graduate degree from an evangelical institution preferred. Possess competent general Bible knowledge, to help others grow in the faith and demonstrate application of the gospel to daily life
– Demonstrate experience in organizing ministries, building strong communication with staff and ministry leaders, and helping others grow as leaders
– Demonstrate the capacity to relate to, train, and disciple people of all ages and equip others
– If married, have a wife who is supportive of the church’s ministry, and if able, serving in church ministry, preferably where gifted
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Pastoral care:
– Actively care for the spiritual needs of those who attend Graham Church
– Minister communion, baptisms, weddings, and funerals as needed
– Visit shut-ins and disabled members of Graham Church
Elder Team:
– Be a part of the elder team participating with them in praying, leading, teaching, and shepherding the congregation of Graham Church
Responsibilities:
– Lead and oversee the community group, Christian education of all age groups (i.e. Bible Study classes, kids ministry, youth ministry), assimilation ministries , develop leaders within the ministries he is leading, and participate in the preaching/teaching and discipleship ministries
– Be the primary administrator and leader of the community group ministry, communicating with and shepherding community group leaders
– Participate and promote Graham Church’s discipleship culture and lead at least one discipleship group
– Develop and manage curriculum for all age groups at Graham
– Participate in the Sunday morning service flow in various capacities
– Provide spiritual care through visitation to the church body
– Be willing to preach on Sundays from the pulpit
– Be willing to teach a formal Bible study class
– Provide a gospel-centered theological perspective to all areas of responsibility
– Attend and participate in the ministries of Graham Church
